Open Water Scuba Diver / Junior Open Water Scuba Diver

Imagine the incredible places you’ll explore! Begin your underwater adventure by enrolling in our Open Water Scuba Diver course. This entry-level certification class teaches you the essential knowledge and skills to dive safely in open water.

Earning your Open Water Scuba Diver Certification is an achievement you’ll be proud of, opening the door to a lifetime of underwater adventures and discoveries.

During the course, you will learn about modern diving equipment, diving science, responsible diving practices, and environmental awareness. Skills will first be practiced in a confined water environment, then applied during your open water dives under the supervision of an instructor.

Open Water Course Overview

Course Registration
Once you select a course date and book online, you’ll receive a link to create your SSI profile. Once your profile has been created, you will be assigned your e-learning & Digital Exam. This must be completed before Day 1.

Day-by-Day Breakdown

Day 1 | Orientation and Theory Revision

  • Time: 8am – 4pm | Brisbane Scuba
  • Your first day includes a theory session, review of your e-learning, and an overview of the course and expectations. You’ll also be sized for your scuba gear and practice setting it up ready to hit the water on day 2.

Day 2 | Pool Session

  •  Time: 8am – 2pm | Manly Pool
  • We kick off with a 200m swim test, a 10-minute float/water tread, and a snorkel session
    You will then put your skills to use to set up your scuba gear. You will then learn and practice all of the essential scuba skills before heading into the open water.

Day 3 | Shore Dives

  • Time: High Tide | Jack Evans Boat Harbour – Tweed
  • You will demonstrate the skills you learnt in the pool session over 2 shore dives and learn how to clean and maintain your scuba equipment. We will then have a debrief and complete your dive log.

Day 4 | Boat Dives

Time: 6:00am – 2pm | Manly South Public Boat Ramp
You’ll enjoy two boat dives at one of Brisbane’s top dive sites aboard Brisbane Scuba’s dive charter vessel ‘Voyager’. Lunch and beverages are included. You will finish up with a course debrief, log your dives and receive your Open Water Certification
